I think the hatching and textures of this pic give it a great mood and feel. For example, I love how the kraken's tentacles aren't smooth or shiny; they're, not rough, exactly, but have a more organic, imperfect contour and texture that makes it feel more real, a bit more monstrous, I guess. I think the texture and feel a of hatched and cross-hatched pen-and-ink drawing gives it a more appropriate mood than a bright and shiny digitally colored pic would.

Sorry that this comment is kinda lacking -- I'm not just in art slump, I'm in a comment slump lately! :P But anyhoo, I think it's a great drawing. : )
